Being your pet's best advocate

Charlie was supposed to be at Boyd Law yesterday and we arrived for the event. Somehow on the walk from our car to the building he hurt his foot. He just went down and decided I’m not walking. I looked at his foot and didn’t see anything but he just did not want to walk. He took a few steps and lay down again. I carried him into the building and wanted to examine him better. The others were there already ready to start the visit. I tried to really look at his foot but he wanted none of it. He just plopped himself down on the floor and wouldn’t move. So the only choice I had was to take him out of the situation. We believe as handlers we are our Animal’s Best Advocate so he was not going to work today. I called our vet and explained the situation and she said to bring him right over. This is why we always book enough teams for the crowd size we expect and everyone was thrilled to meet Dexter, Dude and Sailor. While they did miss having a smaller dog to cuddle they totally understood he had to leave. Update: Charlie is fine today – something very simple like stepping on something in the street had him not wanting to walk for a while but he is going to work tonight. Thank you to everyone for understanding the animal’s health and comfort always comes first.
