Pixie is a rock star
Kristy and Pixie passed their third Pet Partners renewal evaluation with flying colors at the Complex level. This team is so steady and gentle and on point. They are favorites wherever they volunteer and such a great example of teamwork at both ends of the leash. Here’s to another two years with Pet Partners of Las Vegas.

Buddy at work
Buddy is an outstanding therapy dog and is comfortable in all types of environments and with all populations. But he especially shines when working with teenagers. Today we were at one of the treatment centers we visit and Buddy was just so happy. We see two unity back to back with a brief break in between. The first group is split into two sessions and we had girls and boys today. Some of the kids knew Buddy and some were new to us. Those who knew him shared things about h

National Therapy Animal Day
April 30 is National Therapy Animal Day and we are pleased to once again have the day proclaimed such by the City of Henderson. Thank you to Kristy and Pixie for coordinating this special effort. We expect to have our other communities recognize the day and our commitment and service as well so we will share those proclamations as we get them.

Lobby visits are the most fun
We love our Monday lobby visits at Southern Hills Hospital. And when we can bring dogs they have not met before it is so special. Today we had Buddy, Baci and Maisy. What a great trio. We spent some time in the lobby and then went to the floors to visit with staff. Everyone knows Buddy but they were so happy to meet Baci and Maisy. Those two dogs did such an outstanding job today. Hopefully next visit Big Boy will be with us as they all asked for “the big cat!”

Our dear friend
It has been almost ten years since we met the most wonderful woman. She has been in several living situations and we follow her everywhere – she can’t get rid of us! She is now in a lovely group home and we are so happy to be able to visit her there. Each facility has to approve the therapy animals coming in and Buddy went for the first time today. Big Boy has already visited so these two will go regularly. We hope others on our team want to visit with her as well as this mak

The little horse who could
Cinnamon had the best visit with the students at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine, Nursing and Occupational Therapy. Everyone gathered on campus and the students were so excited to meet her. They spend time with our therapy dogs and cats every month but this was something super special. We appreciate that the various schools combine their visits and schedule us together. Karen is always sharing their story and the history of the mini horses. Did you know that Cinnamon is an

Baci is a superstar
Baci has now been on many visits and is quickly becoming a favorite therapy dog on our team. She is just gorgeous and smart and quite serious about her work. She waits patiently for people to pet her and then never wants them to stop. She turns over for belly rubs and looks deeply into people’s eyes. She and Liza are volunteering in so many different situations and have already adopted one of the Clark County Libraries. Here’s to many years of serving our community.

Farewell to Buster
We have very sad news to share tonight. Dear sweet Buster has passed away. Buster was the most gorgeous, gentle Boxer and struggled the last few months with cancer. He retired from the Rainbow Library and Southern Hills Hospital so he could spend his last few months being adored by his family. Cheryl and Chris both volunteered with Buster and everyone who met this dog fell in love with him. We have so many priceless memories of Buster working his magic and we send Cheryl and

Another visit with Cinnamon
Cinnamon had a very special visit at Catholic Charities this week. We bring the therapy dogs regularly but they waited a long time to meet a mini horse! We started the visit with staff coming to meet the little horse. So many people came out to see her. They truly appreciate our partnership and especially getting to meet another species. We probably will include a therapy cat next! Then clients had their time with her and it was magical. We can’t show you their faces but beli

Charlie is our Ambassador
When we are approached by a corporate entity to partner for some community activities or staff wellness, we always have a meeting to discuss how we can work together. It is a meeting whereby I explain our program, our mission and policies, what we can provide and how we work together with the corporate world. Charlie has been going on these “pitch” meetings for some time and actually is quite good at it! He loves representing the caliber of our therapy animals and everyone ge

Bodhi is getting ready to test
Liza is ready to begin volunteering with Baci as soon as she receives the final documentation from Pet Partners. It should be any day now. They did so well on their evaluation. Now Liza is working with her second dog Bodhi to get him evaluated as well. When you love being a therapy animal handler and volunteer it is so wonderful to have two pets to work with. But Bodhi will have a very special place in our program. He was born with two legs and found the perfect home at a few

Buddy at work
Buddy loves being a therapy dog and he enjoys everywhere he goes. But his favorite assignment is with the teens we see weekly. They all have issues and totally understand this special little dog. They have learned patience and empathy and genuine love from this little poodle. And this is the only time Buddy gives belly up for tickling and loves hopping into their laps. I believe the healing power of the pets reaches far beyond a simple visit. They remember and one young man t

Bogie is a rock star
Bogie and Chris have been visiting at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital for several years now and is a staple amongst the patients and staff. He is not only a great distraction while people are waiting for their therapies, but just a friend to everyone. He has also survived spinal damage and spent months in rehab himself. Everyone who meets him is inspired by his complete recovery and ability to resume volunteering. This was always a great assignment for this team, but even

We celebrate Susan and Angel
Here are more photos from our annual celebration. Susan Pierce has been an integral part of Pet Partners of Las Vegas / Love Dog Adventures for almost fifteen years. She is an original board member and volunteered with two of the most spectacular dogs, Ginger and Angel. At our celebration we recognized Susan for her years of service and retirement from therapy work. She moved out of state with Angel and who would have ever thought sweet Angel would pass away just two weeks be

Liza Wen joins our Board
Let’s welcome Liza Wen to the Board of Directors of Pet Partners of Las Vegas / Love Dog Adventures. Liza has been involved with our program for over ten years. She joined our group with her amazing therapy dog Brittany. A tripod, she quickly became one of our most in demand dogs! They did everything from the largest conventions to the smallest one on one work with children. Liza and her husband Eddie were even chosen by national Pet Partners to be the Vegas team at their ann

Our annual meeting
Yesterday we hosted our annual Pet Partners of Las Vegas / Love Dog Adventures celebration and recognition event. It is our way of saying thank you to our volunteers and corporate partners. While we wait for the professional photographs from Edina Dibusz, here is one I took that completely captures the spirit of the event – fun. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of our program in 2025 and we all know 2026 will be even greater!

Another great visit with the VA
This was the first time we had Big Boy visit at the VA. We meet in a large room and had three of their favorite dogs there as well, Birdie, Dexter and Charlie. But everyone had great anticipation to meet a therapy cat! This first hour was spent in the main building and then we walked over to the Recovery / Behavioral Health unit. We were there for the first time and now know we will have to go every visit! We walked outside so the dogs had their break. We were in a very small
