Bogie and Chris have been visiting at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital for several years now and is a staple amongst the patients and staff. He is not only a great distraction while people are waiting for their therapies, but just a friend to everyone. He has also survived spinal damage and spent months in rehab himself. Yesterday we hosted our annual Pet Partners of Las Vegas / Love Dog Adventures celebration and recognition event. It is our way of saying thank you to our volunteers and corporate partners. This was the first time we had Big Boy visit at the VA. We meet in a large room and had three of their favorite dogs there as well, Birdie, Dexter and Charlie. But everyone had great anticipation to meet a therapy cat! This first hour was spent in the main building and then we walked over to the Recovery / Behavioral Health unit. We were privileged to meet with the crew and performers of The Magic Mike Show at the Sahara as they had experienced the sudden loss of one of their team members. While dealing with grief and sadness, they had to perform so we were invited in for some much needed de-stressing and comfort. One of our favorite ongoing wellness visits is with the students at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine. We go monthly and the crowds are getting bigger each time. This week we had a therapy cat Big Boy with us! The line to meet him was all the way down the hall. We meet in a rather small lounge area so we are limited to the number of pets we can bring. The Spring Valley library hosted Winterfest to celebrate reading accomplishments and we were invited to provide a Calming Place for the children. After they logged in the books they read and sang and danced with a DJ, did various crafts and had hot chocolate, they came to meet the Therapy Dogs to wind down. It was so much fun. The Graduate Medical Education program  welcomes  Pet Partnes of Las vegas monthly to meet with the resident doctors. We really enjoy these  de-stressing events and so many of the doctors know us from other places. They may have met us while in college or the Kerkorian School of Medicine. They collect the trading cards. And one woman told me she knew us from elementary school all those years ago! This brief break in their hectic day is appreciated and our teams love meeting w

Each of our library programs is a bit different. Some concenrate on readinhg while others are Meet & Greet with the therapy pets.  Whoopi spends time in one of the Clark County libraries and this week  one  teen just  needed some quiet time hugging a dog!

We were invited to meet with some military personnel for a wellness event and it was amazing. We brought five therapy dog teams to visit with a very select group of staff and airmen and it was such a worthwhile few hours. Thank you to Kristy and Pixie. Bob and Dexter, Jim and Dude, Gabby and Xoco and Buddy for bringing such joy and comfort to those who do so much for all of us. We look forward to returning for regular visits and know we made a difference today.

The holiday party for SAFY (Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth) was amazing. When we arrived they had a snow machine outside and we all felt very festive! We brought five therapy dogs and the children were excited to see them. So with tons of music and dancing and games and balloon making and food, the dogs were the greatest hit. Southern Hills Hospital hosts a holiday party with Santa and today was the most fun. The party is for employees and their families as well as for the public. Everyone had a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the children got to play games and do crafts and have lots of fun snacks. The UNLV School of Dental Medicine started working with us over ten years ago. We love seeing the students, especially around exam time.  We meet in a lounge area and so many students find a few minutes to pop in for a cuddle and chat. This time we had Dude, Pixie, Charlie and Xoco. This was the perfect mix of therapy dogs. We look forward to our monthly visits and bringing a wide variety of pets to meet them. They can’t wait to meet a therapy cat or horse!

We love our Employee Wellness visits and get to meet so many people in so many different places. Yesterday we visited with staff members at Caesars Palace and it was once again a wonderful experience. The last time we  spent a few hours during the evening but this time we went mid-day so we saw many more people. They came over during lunch breaks and the room filled up pretty quickly. Some of our favorite visits are at Catholic Charities. Yesterday Charlie and Pixie had the best time meeting with staff and clients. When I arrived with Charlie someone was waiting outside already as they knew the dogs were coming. I heard a happy “Charlie is here!” and we spent some private time together before we went in.
