Sometimes we get asked to go on special visits to a new facility or one we do not formally partner with. We always try to accommodate these requests if permitted in. Kristie and Pixie were asked to visit someone that was in the hospital for three weeks and missed her own dog so much. This is what Kristie shared after the visit: “Her daughter reached out for a therapy dog visit and Pixie was the perfect pup to go. She hoped the visit would cheer up her mom. She was so surprised tears of joy filled her eyes when we showed up in her doorway. She immediately asked if Pixie could join her on the bed. We always put a barrier between the patient and animal and know our animal will stay in place. We placed her mat on the bed and with careful ease Pixie was put onto her spot. She spoke quietly to Pixie while stoking her head and holding her close. The rest of her family arrived about halfway into our visit to join in petting Pixie.” This was another amazing interaction highlighting the healing power of the pets.
