Vegas PBS has a show called “Student Spotlight” where they feature a CCSD school and something very special happening at that school. We were honored to be asked to showcase our anti-bully program “Be Cool Not Cruel” and we chose our partner school John & Judy Goolsby ES for this filming.  Maria Silva, the host and reporter, spent an hour with a kindergarten class meeting Sue and Charlie and Jori and Big Boy. Yes, a dog and a cat working together, getting along! The class was amazing and the students so eager to learn about the therapy pets and share their experiences with pets. They brushed the pets, petted them, held them and understood that were perfect just the way they are even though both pets have something a little bit different about them. Two students were interviewed as was Principal Heather Hawley. They even had their school mascot on hand. Then Jori and Big Boy were interviewed and then it was Charlie’s turn. The pets didn’t have much to say! Each child received the program bracelet and our “I pet a therapy animal today” sticker and of course the pets’ trading cards. Shawn came with us to help out and when we have her wonderful photos we will post them as well. The segment will air on November 9 and we will certainly share the link with you.
