Hot Cocoa with Cinnamon
Today Nevada State University hosted their first visit with Cinnamon, a mini therapy horse. It was the most amazing event. The Library created such an outstanding experience called Hot Cocoa with Cinnamon! They put up a tent and served hot chocolate and over two hundred students lined up to meet Cinnamon. The event was held outside the library building and it was a bit chilly but when they hugged this beautiful little horse, they warmed up! It was such a joyful time during

UNLV LIED LIBRARY IS ALWAYS SPECIAL
We are in our 13 th year visiting with students at UNLV in Lied Library and it gets more exciting each time. This visit was right before the third anniversary of the active shooter situation so many students came to see us because they were there as we were during the lockdown. But we had even more freshman and sophomores who are new to our teams and that was great fun for them. We had seven therapy dogs in the room and the students went from one to another, meeting them and

Bishop Gorman welcomes Pet Partners
We had the pleasure of visiting with the Teen Empowerment Club at Bishop Gorman High School and it was such a wonderful visit. We were part of a presentation given by one of our very own volunteers Casey Bone, a Gorman Freshman. She explained to the students who we are, what we do and the importance of animal assisted therapy. Then the fun began! So many students, teachers, administration came to pet Birdie and Charlie. Thank you for this special visit and we look forward to

Happy Gotcha Day Charlie
Help me celebrate Charlie’s Gotcha Day. I adopted Charlie four years ago the day after Thanksgiving. It was actually November 27, 2021 but I consider his Gotcha Day tomorrow. He was incredibly neglected and in poor condition. He was so matted I could not tell what kind of dog he was but something about this little dog just reeled me in. He was in great need of medical care and could not even come home with me to meet my other dogs at the time (Benny and Hildie.) But after spe

Year end visit at Kerkorian School of Medicine
We had our last visit of the year with the medical students at Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. We host monthly visits as part of their Wellness program and began this partnership when it was just a thought in everyone’s minds. In 2016 we were asked if we would consider going to the new medical school they were building. Of course we said yes and our first visit was in 2017 when they were accepting their first class and using a small area of the Dental School. Ever since

Back to CSN Cheyenne Campus
The third and final CSN campus (North Cheyenne) met three therapy teams today and we had our greatest turnout. The students at all the CSN campuses just love the Love Dogs and tell everyone they must stop by to meet us. Birdie was in rare form and actually flung herself in a student’s lap upside down! Dexter was always smiling as usual. And Buddy could not find a lap he didn’t want to sit in. We want to thank our coordinators for always making us feel so welcome on each campu

CSN Henderson welcomes the therapy dogs
The college exam season is upon us and we are so busy. We are the therapy teams for all the colleges in Vegas and just spent time with students at College of Southern Nevada (CSN) at the Henderson Campus. Every day over the next few weeks we are somewhere helping students de-stress at such a challenging time. Thank you to Birdie, Daisy and Charlie for kicking off the season so beautifully.

Chris and Bogie
Let’s congratulate Chris and Bogie on their Pet Partners renewal. This team works in a rehabilitation hospital and brings such inspiration to everyone. Bogie himself went through months of rehab and shows everyone that with great love and patience and extraordinary medical intervention anything is possible. He returned to volunteering with his came joyful spirit and he still loves a good belly rub!

Buddy is a natural
Buddy is such a precious dog. He is probably eleven years old now and loves nothing more than being a therapy dog. When he was first introduced to me via text I had no idea he would be such a natural. He is so calm and curious and loves everyone he meets. He is especially sensitive to the teenagers we work with. These are his favorite people and I truly think he knows they are just like him. Misunderstood, struggling at times to fit in and taking life one day at a time.

Back to Boyd Law School
We always enjoy our wellness visits at UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law. Today was especially fun. We had Birdie, Dexter and Buddy and more students came to see us than ever before. We meet in their Student Lounge and Birdie loves to be up on a pedestal and is always ready for a belly rub. Dexter prefers to be in his own area by the sofas so he can spread out. Buddy hangs in his space near the door so he sees everyone coming in and walks around and loves to be cuddled. Whi

Buddy also worked on Halloween
Buddy also worked on Halloween. That’s the beauty of having more than one therapy dog – we can go many more places! Buddy spent the morning with the teen group he visits and had the best time. This was a large group and everyone took turns petting him and asking questions. He leapt into their laps when they said Applesauce! And they always want to know how his week was and how he is feeling. Then they ask about Charlie of course as they know him too. I brought Charlie last

It's Halloween
Yesterday was Halloween so we decided to stop by Southern Hills Hospital for a visit and show one of our teams where we go there. Guess who we ran into as soon as we arrived – a Cat! Erica was the most beautiful kitty and we saw many other amazing costumes on the staff. Pet Partners therapy animals can’t wear costumes when they work but Charlie wore the orange bandana from our recent Walk and looked quite festive! We started in the lobby and then went into the Surgical Waitin

Halloween tips
Halloween is traditionally scary and noisy and creepy but it can be very disturbing for your pets.. Pet Partners therapy program actually does not permit therapy dogs to wear costumes when working. Not only may it affect your pet’s demeanor, but prevent clients from having access to the animal’s full body for easy petting. But if you choose to dress up your pet in his personal “off time” take care to make sure he is happy and comfortable. This is Coco in her cost

Charlie and Sue were on a Podcast
Charlie and I had the honor of being the guest on Doris Bauer’s Podcast for the Nevada Philippine Nurses Association. We were invited to speak about animal assisted therapy and the benefits to a whole host of populations, especially in the mental health arena. We had so much fun sharing our stories of how we integrate the therapy animals into traditional and non-traditional therapies. We also spoke about the joy that comes from having the pets be a part of a wide variety of
